About the Zine:
Punks on Bike Fanzine (PoB) is exactly what it sounds like. It's about bmx and punk rock. Based in Indiana, we love to showcase and spotlight local companies, zines, people, promoters, skateparks, etc... that help to build a better scene. Click each cover (left) to check out what each issue contains. Ordering: If you're interested in ordering, contact us at order@punksonbikes.com and we'll work out the details. We quit charging a while ago so each issue's free. We do ask you send a dollar for shipping though. Also, we'll print back orders for no charge (there may be a delay in your order though). History: PoB started by talking to Chris Castle about an idea for a BMX/Music zine that was going to be called Kickstand BMX. Chris first introduced me to zines around 2003 with Naptown BMX (two issues of Indianapolis BMX). Chris got wrapped up in his life and Kickstand never got off the ground. Originally Team BMX, the zine started in the fall of 2006. I started it as I rehabbed from a knee surgery to kill time and keep my sanity. Each issue continue to improve. Some issues got better content wise others layout wise. The first two issues came out a
month apart. From there we begin to put out issues
quarterly. Now every four to six months a new issue pops
up.
Issue 7 was the first issue that we started using professional layout software. Issue 8 followed suite and is by and far the best issue we've done. Issue 9 (out December/January) is supposed to be a split issue with Youth Culture Killed My Dog (YCKMD) and will be a must if it happens. |
